Recover From Coercive Control

Art Therapy
A creative, trauma-informed approach to healing and recovery
Service Description
Discover a creative approach to healing and recovery through our 60-minute online art therapy sessions, designed with the experiences of survivors of coercive control, cultic groups and spiritual abuse in mind. Art therapy can offer a way to explore thoughts, emotions, memories and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Through drawing, painting, collage, writing and other creative processes, you can express and explore what you're experiencing in a way that feels meaningful and manageable for you. Sessions are trauma-informed, client-centred and guided by your individual needs and goals. There is no requirement to be “good at art”, and there is no right or wrong way to create. The focus is not on producing a particular artwork, but on using the creative process as a tool for reflection, self-expression, understanding and recovery. For people recovering from coercive control, creative work can also provide an opportunity to reconnect with personal identity, autonomy and choice — things that may have been restricted or undermined within a high-control environment. Art therapy can be undertaken as a standalone therapy or integrated with talk-based counselling, depending on what feels most helpful for you.
