Online Counselling with Renée

I offer online counselling for people who have experienced cults, high-control groups, or coercive and controlling relationships.

This work is deeply personal to me. Across my life, I’ve encountered multi-level marketing environments, high-control expressions within Catholicism, New Age movements, and domestic violence. I also have lived experience as a parent of an adult child who was actively recruited into a cult.

These experiences, alongside my professional background in education and mental health, have shaped how I understand coercive control—not just in theory, but in the complexity of real life.

Leaving these environments can be confusing, overwhelming, and deeply isolating. You may be dealing with anxiety, loss of identity, self-doubt, or difficulty trusting yourself and others.

Counselling offers a safe, steady space to begin making sense of what you’ve been through—at your own pace, and without pressure or judgement.

My Approach

I draw on evidence-based approaches to support nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and recovery from psychological manipulation.

As a qualified Art Therapist, I also value the healing power of creativity. I often use metaphor in this work—such as the story of Little Red Riding Hood—to explore themes of perception, influence, boundaries, and awareness in ways that feel safe and meaningful, rather than overwhelming or intellectualised.

Just as importantly, I understand from lived experience how complex these situations can be. My role is not to tell you what to believe or how to interpret your experience, but to support you in reconnecting with your own thinking, values, and choices.

Whether you have recently left a group or are still trying to make sense of something that happened years ago, support is available. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
